- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 6 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add cold water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Divide in half and refrigerate.
- In another bowl, combine sliced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss to coat the apples evenly.
- Roll out one half of the dough and place it in a pie dish. Fill with the apple mixture.
- Roll out the second half of the dough and place it over the filling. Seal and cut slits for steam to escape.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Let it cool before slicing and serve with vanilla ice cream.
