- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 egg

- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and molasses until well combined.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, spices, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms. Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into desired shapes and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes or until just set. Allow to cool before decorating with icing or glazes.
