- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 6 cups sliced apples
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, for egg wash
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, salt, and chilled butter until crumbly. Add granulated sugar and mix well.
- In another bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Roll out half of the dough and place it in a pie dish. Fill with the apple mixture.
- Roll out the remaining dough and cover the pie, sealing the edges. Cut slits for steam to escape.
- Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
